“We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we
have heard, so that we do not drift away. 2 For since the
message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation
and disobedience received its just punishment, 3 how shall we
escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which
was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those
who heard him. 4 God also testified to it by signs, wonders
and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed
according to his will.” Hebrews 2:1-4(NIV)
In our Introduction to Church Membership Class 101, we
teach that the Christian life is not just about believing, but also
belonging. The early Christ followers “devoted themselves to the
fellowship” and this became one of the spiritual pillars of their
faith. It is not just about me and you, but about Him and us,
Jesus as the Head of the body called Kino’ole and we, as parts of
His body.
12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many
parts form one body, so it is with Christ. . . . 17 If the whole
body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the
whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell
be? 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every
one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all
one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many
parts, but one body.” 1 Corinthians 12:12,17-20 (NIV)
As we celebrate our 76th anniversary, where God took eighteen
members who were willing to covenant with God and each other
on November 17, 1946, we believe that we are living our best
days of knowing and loving and serving our Lord and sharing His
Good News of salvation here in Hilo, the Big Island, Hawaii and
beyond.
Will you join us this Sunday in worship and in studying God’s
Word together?
Have a great week!
Aloha,
Pastor Daniel
